Do I need to wear white wedding shoes?
Firstly, apologies to most of the guys out there, this ones pretty much for the ladies, unless you want some shoe/heeled shoe ideas too which is totally okay with me, you wear whatever the heck you like!
I saw a post in one of those Facebook groups the other week, you know the ones, buy/see/rent/sell your soul for your wedding etc. (don't even try to deny that you haven't joined one, we all know everyone does, even if it's just for the giggles!) But it got me thinking, someone asked if they needed to wear white wedding shoes, someone else asked what shoes to wear with an Ivory wedding dress, someone else was struggling to find "bridal shoes". To me, if a bride wears shoes to her wedding, they're bridal shoes right? So I decided to look through some of my galleries to remind myself what shoes some of my brides had worn and upon further inspection not that many had opted for whatever a traditional white/ivory bridal shoe is meant to be, so here's an idea of what shoes you can wear with your dress!
Charlotte is a total rock chick at heart and definitely didn't want anything white or conventionally bridal to go with her rose gold sequin embellished dress! Instead she opted for these totally kick as black heeled boots that she already owned and knew were super comfy!
Megan wanted to keep the ol' "Something old, something new" tradition and chose her something blue as her shoes! I LOVED this idea so much and went perfectly with her fairy goth mother calf length dress!
'Chelle rarely wears heels and added to the fact she was 5 months pregnant when she got married definitely didn't want to start wearing them on her wedding day. However she did actually want some kind of white shoe and was super frustrated with the super boring, plain and ridiculously uncomfortable "bridal pumps" that are in the shops so went for these awesome rose gold polka dot Converse that were not only super comfortable but by not being bridal shoes means she gets more wear out of them, double win!
Leah (and her bridesmaids) all had Irregular Choice shoes. I'll just put it out there, I LOVE Irregular choice for bridal shoes, they have SUCH a super fun range of heels and flats to suit all styles, if you want white they do them with glitter and all sorts, they have a pair with a little bride and groom as the heel (although I do wish they would offer the option to have 2 brides, it is 2018!) They've even had a Disney and Muppet range!
Jess also opted to keep a little tradition and go for white but she made sure to pick the cutest pair of white heels complete with lace overlay and super cute bows on thre front, and not a bit of satin in sight!
Hattie opted for these amazing red heels that are very Dorothy esq and went super well with her dress (the back was full of colour!) but again also means she has a pair of heels now to wear again!
Jess was greedy and actually had 2 dress and 3, yes 3, pairs of shoes! Here's 2 of said shoes, the first being these kitsch Irregular Choice shoes for her legal ceremony in the morning, the second were these awesome floral shoes with red toes that totally went with her Alice in Wonderland Bouquet!
Hopefully this has given you a tonne of ideas for wedding shoes and shown that you most definitely don't need to have white shoes but if you do then you totally can have an awesome pair without them being those boring bridal shoes you see in shops!
