RETRO TOY THEMED WEDDING AT EAST HORTON – PAIGE AND CHRIS
IF YOU WERE BORN IN THE LATE 80'S/EARLY 90'S THEN YOU ARE GOING TO LOVE THIS NOSTALGIC RETRO TOY THEMED WEDDING!
When Paige and Chris first got in touch with me about their retro wedding in Hampshire, I was so excited – they were planning the most fun and original wedding with a photobooth, a quiz and even a raffle! Paige and Chris are the most fun people and I couldn’t wait to shoot their wedding!
Bride and groom prep
I started shooting at Marwell Hotel, where the couple were getting ready, and it was so chilled out. Paige wore a dress she had found in a charity shop and customised herself! (you can read more on that on her blog here) and Chris wore a super suave suit from Next and they looked so awesome. Marwell Hotel was an amazing backdrop for getting ready as the grounds are nestled in a green jungle like setting, I felt like I was in Jurassic Park(!), which was perfect for taking photos of their outfits. They had both written letters to each other to read so it was super lovely to photograph them both opening those in the morning too!
The wedding
The wedding took place at East Horton in the Greenwood Room, and was a beautiful civil ceremony. They had some beautiful readings, which brought pretty much everyone to tears. Paige's Grandad read her favourite poem from Winnie the Pooh whilst everyone, including her super cute nephews clapped and cheered along! The actual ceremony setting itself looked amazing, Paige had spent months making pom poms which she then made into a chandelier and a backdrop amongst other things and the photos of them both saying their vows under the chandelier are some of my absolute favourites! I think the two of them smiled and giggled the whole way through, it was a really beautiful ceremony to be part of!After the ceremony there was a big cheer from everyone, and then the celebrations began.
The afternoon
The wedding reception took place downstairs in the main bar area and outside in the beautiful courtyard, which also hosted their incredible dessert table by Tiny Sarahs Cakes
During the reception they had live music from Paige's sister Robyn who played guitar and sang a few songs, which went down a storm. The guests even joined in a few! They also had a raffle which was hilarious with everyone cheering when a number was called, it was such a great idea for including all their guests. IT was such a fun filled reception, just before the guests were due to be seated for their meal Paige changed into an INCREDIBLE dress by Chotronette and they had a first look alone together in the courtyard which was so lovely to be part of. Their room decor was amazing. Each table was named after one of their favourite toys growing up, from Furbies to Pokemon, Beanie babies to troll dolls. Paige had thought of EVERYTHING and how cool were the graphics that Chris designed. This wedding was just total teamwork from them both.
For the wedding breakfast they had proper wedding grub, and it was gobbled down in seconds by everyone. After the meal they had some awesome speeches, including Chris's brother Andy who had the role of being best man, and also happens to be a comedian. It was hands down the best, best man speech I've heard, I was laughing SO much whilst taking the photos, then the couple cut the wedding cake and the guests made the most of the photobooth. They also had a tattoo station, which was a great laugh. They did their first dance to Paramore's - Still Into You which is a personal favourite of mine so that was epic, towards the end someone let of a confetti canon and everyone joined them on the dance floor for a real girl power hour.
