Colourful same sex festival wedding inspiration Barsnston lodge Essex

Last year the super lovely Poppy got in touch asking if I wanted to photography a festival themed styled shoot she was organising at Barnston Lodge, Essex. I jumped at the chance as 1- I LOVE colour, 2- we’d just come out of stricter lockdown and it was the first real opportunity to do something and be around actual real life people, and 3 - Just look at how freakin’ handsome our real model couple Ben & Charles are!!

We 100% lucked out with the weather on the shoot day, it was PERFECT for a festival style shoot! County Marquees had set up a small kung tipi for us that is perfect inspiration for a smaller intimate wedding but still embraces that festival vibe.

Barnston Lodge is the perfect setting as they have so much grounds to allow you to put up a marquee or tipi and have lots of lovely spots for photos too!

We really made sure this styled shoot was jam packed full of colour and fun details from pom poms, to deckchairs, colourful florals and relaxed seating areas.

Charles & Ben have been together for 4.5 years and were actually due to get married in July 2020 but sadly had to postpone so it was nice to give them a sorta would be wedding, and I think when doing styled shoots with couples, especially LGBTQ+ it’s imperative that the couple are real! You cannot imitate the connection and chemistry that a real couple have.
