So you’re thinking about getting married at Islington Town Hall? Honestly – amazing choice. This North London gem is a go-to for stylish city weddings and elopements. It’s iconic, easy to get to, and somehow feels both grand and laid-back at the same time.

And the best part? I’ve photographed here a fair few times– so if you’re looking for fun, relaxed, and totally you wedding photography, I’ve got you.

Why I Love Islington Town Hall Weddings (and You Will Too)

It’s sophisticated without being over the top. It’s got just the right amount of history, the perfect amount of drama (hello, Council Chamber), and it sits right in one of the coolest parts of London. Plus, if you're planning a smaller, fuss-free day but still want it to feel like a big deal – this is your place.

And let’s be honest, it photographs like a dream.

Gorgeous Photo Spots Inside Islington Town Hall

While the outside steps and grand entrance are iconic (and YES we will absolutely do the confetti shot), don’t sleep on the interiors – they’re next-level beautiful too.

📍 The Top of the Staircase – Right at the heart of the building, this is an absolute gem for romantic portraits. The soft natural light, the sweeping bannister, the beautiful architecture… it’s giving timeless elegance.

📍 That Iconic Corridor – You know the one. Long, light-filled, dramatic AF. It’s perfect for those editorial-style shots or a quick quiet moment together before or after the ceremony. I love sneaking off here for a breather and some couple photos while guests are heading out or mingling.

We can do loads without even stepping outside – but when we do? Get ready for some amazing London street-style magic.

Planning Your Islington Town Hall Wedding: What You Need to Know

Planning a town hall wedding can feel super chill, but there are still a few bits you need to sort:

🗓 Book your date early – Especially if you want a Friday or weekend slot. Popular dates go fast.

🧾 Give notice – You’ll need to give legal notice at your local registry office at least 29 days before your wedding.

👯‍♀️ Choose the right room – Each room has a set capacity and it’s enforced, so make sure it matches your guest list.

🕰 Keep to the time – Ceremonies often run back-to-back, so timings are tight. I help plan your photo timeline so we make the most of every minute.

🎉 Where next? – Whether you’re heading to a pub, restaurant, or just going for a walk, let me know and we’ll build that into the photo plan.

FAQs – Planning a Town Hall Wedding

Can we throw confetti outside Islington Town Hall?

Absolutely – and I 100% recommend it. The steps make the perfect backdrop. Just make sure it’s biodegradable (and maybe check the weather!).

How long will the ceremony last?

Usually about 20–30 minutes depending on what you’ve planned. There’s not loads of time to hang about after, so we’ll sneak off quickly for couple portraits while everyone’s getting ready to head out.

Do we need to book a separate place for drinks/food after?

Yes – Islington Town Hall doesn’t have reception facilities, but there are *tons* of amazing local options. Whether it’s a pub, bar or fancy restaurant, we can chat through some of my faves (and what works best for photos too!).

What’s included in short coverage packages?

Short coverage usually includes ceremony photos, couple portraits, confetti and some relaxed group shots. I’ll be there to capture the emotion and buzz of the day – just on a smaller scale.

How do we book you?

Just fill in the form below, tell me all about your plans, and I’ll send over my pricing guide. From there, we can have a proper chat and get everything locked in!
