A super fun and colourful woodland wedding at Alpheton Hall Barns
Feast your eyes on this woodland wedding full of fun and colour!
Joseph and Francesca got married at one of my new favourite venues, Alpheton Hall Barns. It’s a beautiful barn in Suffolk with super lovely grounds that’s an absolute treat for photographers! I was also lucky enough to be the first person to photograph a woodland wedding in their new ceremony area and it’s definitely a special place!
It’s gonna get emotional
Joseph & Francesca started the day off getting ready at the Swan in Lavenham. I met the girls upstairs where they were all getting ready in high spirits. Danielle was putting the final touches to their make up before they added some super cute dried flowers into their hair.
Lottie my second photographer headed to the venue to meet Joseph & the guys when they arrived to take some informal photos whilst they finished getting ready.
Francescas dad drove her in his vintage Volvo SP1800, the one The Saint drove . It had actually been sitting in his garage for 30 years undriviable but when Francesca asked if she could have it for the wedding he made sure, right up until the night before, that it was wedding ready! It looked amazing driving through the clearing. The couples children and her bridesmaids walked down the aisle first before Francesca and her dad. When she saw Joseph her eyes filled with happy tears and as she got closer she could see that he was already crying! Seeing Francesca and their children walk down was a memory that he won’t forget.
The woodland ceremony area feels so secluded nestled amongst the trees and with buckets of wildflowers everywhere it was such a perfect vibe. They chose to face their guests so that everyone truly felt like part of their day and their marriage. Whilst their littlest sat and watched (and desperately tried to resist the temptation to eat the flower petals!) Their son was the best man and incharge of the rings, whilst their daughter had written a poem that she confidently read to everyone, it was such a special moment!

A day full of laughter and fun
After they had danced their way back down the aisle to lots of excited and happy faces we headed up the path towards the confetti glade, a beautiful spot created by Nic, owner of Alpheton Barns, for the couple to absolutely showered with colourful dried petal confetti! It was then time for lawn games in the afternoon as well as lots of yummy canapes and prosecco! Whilst guests were starting to find their seats we went for a 10 minute stroll around the venue to get some super cool and beautiful photos of them both, and of course we had to get the car (and the shoes!) into some photos!
As guests made their way into the barn they were greeted by lots of colourful streamers, foliage hoops and colourful flowers on the tables. The tables were all named after various gig venues they had been to together over the course of their relationship and they got the children to join in writing and decorating the table names which they absolutely loved being part of! "Music has always been an important part of our relationship and we named our top table The Village Underground as that was where we saw our first gig together."
For their favours guests were gifted jars of champagne and strawberry tiptree jam that were personalised and it was one of Joe’s mums favourite flavours. They also attached special enamel badges to the place settings in support of the charity they launched in memory of their son Felix who died of Sudden Infant Death syndrome (SIDs)
They walked in to the venue to a song from Kiss with an awesome light show that Nic at the venue had put together. If you’re looking for a venue that really go the extra mile for each couple then Alpheton Hall barns is definitely the one!
Their wedding cake was a real show stopper, a 3 tired explosion of colour and florals with awesome flavourings consisting of Snickers, pistachio, white chocolate and raspberry AND carrot cake!
