The Alternative Wedding photographer for couples who want fun photos
Why me?
Hey you - I'm Chloé an alternative wedding photographer based in Essex (although I’m always up for an adventure), and I’m here to photograph your wedding exactly how it happens in a fun and creative way. Whether you’re having a proper booze up in the pub, a festival style bash or having the party to top all parties, my job is simple - to photograph the moments that actually feel like you.
Basically, I’m not your traditional stand-in-a-line-and-say-cheese kinda photographer. As an alternative wedding photographer, I focus on the *real* stuff – the laughter, the tears, the dance-offs, and the little in-between moments that make your wedding truly yours. My style is colourful, relaxed and fun, mixing creativity with candid shots that reflect your personality as a couple.
If you’re the type of couple who wants to ditch the usual formalities, enjoy your day and embrace the fun, weird, and colourful side of life, then we’ll get along just fine!
“Chloe put me at so much ease from the very start as I was such a nervous bride.
Chloe’s ability to make you feel happy and confident really helps bring out the best in you during the photoshoots!
Having you as our wedding photographer has been a joy from start to finish.”
What actually IS an Alternative Wedding Photographer?
Okay so when I say I’m an alternative wedding photographer I don’t necessarily mean you as a couple need to be super ‘alternative’ but as a Myspace era elder emo if you are, bonus points for all the bands we can discuss. By alternative wedding photography I’m talking about breaking away from the boring traditional super posed photography. I don’t want to make you stand about for an hour whilst we line everyone up for formal photos.
For me it’s all about making sure you get to spend time with your pals and celebrate together whilst I take candid photos and have a chat with your mates. I have a shit tonne of wedding knowledge so I can guide you through the best time to fit the group photos in and make time for some cool fun photos of you both without having to miss out on any of the action.
I love working with couples who are all about breaking traditions, going wild with creativity, embracing the weird and making your wedding day a true reflection of who you are as a couple.
What You Can Expect from Me
No Awkward Posing: I’ll give you gentle direction when needed, but for the most part, it’s all about natural moments. I want you to look back on your photos and see *you*, not some stiff, overly posed version of yourselves. That being said, if I see a cool back drop that gives me album cover meets Wes Anderson vibes I’ll probably guide you a little more to look like freakin’ rockstars.
A Fun, Stress-Free Experience: Weddings are emotional, exciting, and (let’s face it) sometimes chaotic! I’ll be there to go with the flow, keep things chill, and help calm you down if needed. As someone with ADHD I’m pretty good at picking up on everyones feelings and if you need to use me as a way to escape Auntie Joan then be my guest. I want you to feel comfortable.
Colourful & fun Photography: I love colour, creativity, and a bit of edge in my photos. Whether it’s getting those wild dance floor moments or sneaking off for some golden hour sunset magic, I’ll be there to match the vibe and grab all those epic moments.
So what’s this gonna cost us?
My all day price is £2250 - this gets you me for up to 9 hours of fun at your wedding, covering all the joy from getting ready through to the party. You can add on a second photographer and extra hours if you need it but we can chat about what would suit your day on a call.
FAQ
Do you have insurance etc.
I’ve got all the relevant insurances for me & my kit. You’ll get a proper contract to sign when you book and this bit is all formal and legit (probably the only time I have to be somewhat formal!)
Can we give you a shot list?
I’ve got you covered on the must-have moments! But if you have any absolute must haves or special requests (like that pic with grandma or a cool spot that made you fall in love with the venue), then absolutely - around 4-6 weeks before the wedding I’ll ping you over my day in detail form with handy sections to fill in where you can let me know anything I should take extra care to look out for.
How many photos will we get?
I take a LOT of photos on the day which I then carefully go through after to get rid of what I like to call ‘the blinkers & stinkers’ (trust me someone ALWAYS blinks during the group photos which is why I take so many and I am only a mere human so I deffo take some wonky blurry pics which you don’t want to see). For a full day I say you’ll get a minimum of 500 it all depends on what’s going on, I’m all for quality over quantity, but trust me, you’ll have plenty!
Do you edit all of the photos?
Yep! This is the behind the scenes part that takes most of the time Every single one gets a little TLC to look its best—there’s no heavy filters here, just true-to-life colors and vibes.
Can we meet before booking?
Totally! If you’re local to Colchester (or fancy a little ride out) we can meet in person over a coffee or a pint, if you’re further a field we can hop on a Zoom, I’d love to chat and make sure we vibe!
When & how do we get our photos?
My average turnaround time is 6-8 weeks but during peak season July-Oct this can sometimes be a little longer but you will get a selection of previews within a week of your wedding to do the all important profile pic update and get on those thank you cards. You’ll get a shareable online gallery to view your photos and if you opt for it a USB gift box too.
Where are you based? Do you travel?
I’m based in Colchester, Essex but I frequently travel all over the UK and I’m for an overseas trip! Travel is included within 100miles. Any further and an overnight travel cost may be applicable. For destinations this is bespoke to wherever you’re getting hitched.
We’re worried we’re not ‘alternative’ enough for you?
You absolutely do not need to feel worried, you don’t need to have tattoos or coloured hair, all I want to know is if you’re up for saying fuck it to the rule box, breaking away from some of those wedding traditions and are happy for me to do my thing - even if it means I think that a burnt out truck looks cool AF and ‘pose’ you in front of it. To me you’re alternative if you want something a little different than the norm.
How do we book you?
Easy peasy—just fill out the contact form below or pop me a message. A signed contract and a £500 booking fee will secure your date (and then you go on my calendar in pen and you’re all legit.
